Marea Reading, a Cardiothoracic Nurse Education Consultant from St Vincent's Hospital, Sydney, Australia, will conduct the seminar. Marea has been a specialist in cardiothoracic nursing for many years and prepares the Chest X-Ray Quiz in the Journals: 'Intensive and Critical Care Nursing' and "Australian Critical Care'.

The topics that will be addressed by Marea in this seminar include: the reasons why chest x-ray films are taken, the four x-ray densities, the difference between the various chest x-ray views, the location of the lung fissures, the way to systematically view a chest x-ray with particular emphasis on the nursing implications of the correct positioning of lines, the radiographic features of pneumothorax, pleural effusion, pulmonary oedema (cardiac/non-cardiac) pericardial effusion, fractured ribs, pneumonia and hyperinflated lung fields.
